How we ranked them
Every air purifier was scored against ONDA's published review methodology: six weighted criteria, with filtration technology and CADR carrying weight on purpose — the category's biggest user-confusion sources are inflated coverage claims and "True HEPA" marketing without independent AHAM verification.
All ten were assessed from manufacturer documentation, AHAM certification records and 2026 consumer / Wirecutter reviews rather than hands-on testing.
The short version
Three buying questions resolve the category cleanly:
Filtration depth? Clinical-grade (HyperHEPA H14): IQAir HealthPro Plus. Premium True HEPA H13 + formaldehyde: Dyson Big+Quiet. PECO + HEPA: Molekule Air Pro. Mid-tier True HEPA H13: everyone else.
Room coverage (CADR)? 1500+ sq ft: Coway Airmega 400 (~$479). 800-1500 sq ft: IQAir, Molekule, Dyson, Blueair (~$820-$1199). 400-700 sq ft: Levoit Core 600S, Honeywell HPA300 (~$249-$299). Bedroom-scale: Coway AP-1512HH, Winix 5500-2, Levoit Core 300 (~$99-$249).
Smart features needed? Premium app + sensor + auto: Dyson, Molekule, Blueair, Coway 400, Levoit 600S. Sensor only (no app): Winix 5500-2, Coway AP-1512HH. None: Levoit Core 300, Honeywell HPA300, IQAir HealthPro Plus.
IQAir dominates the clinical-grade tier; Dyson owns premium consumer smart; Coway Airmega 400 wins mid-premium value; Levoit + Coway AP-1512HH + Winix cover credible budget; Levoit Core 300 anchors the $99 entry tier.
