Eight Sleep Pod 6 review

/ 10
The most sensible Eight Sleep yet — the Pod 6 shrinks the hub by half, adds 9x more sensors, changes temperature 20% faster and, for the first time, sells single-sleeper Solo sizes from $1,999, while the dual-zone queen drops to $2,899. The catch is unchanged: an Autopilot membership ($199–$399/year) is mandatory, and the warranty length depends on which tier you pay for.Best for sleepers who want Eight Sleep’s dual-zone climate and wearable-free HRV tracking at the lowest price the brand has offered — especially single sleepers, who can now buy a Solo size — and accept a yearly membership.
The Eight Sleep Pod 6 is the sixth-generation Pod, launched on 23 September 2026 in more than 37 countries as the replacement for the Pod 5. Eight Sleep rebuilt the hub to be 50% smaller so it fits under most bed frames, raised the biometric sensor count from 2 to 18, and says temperature adjustments are 20% faster than any previous generation, with each side of the dual-zone cover working independently. New Solo sizes (Twin, or one side of a Queen, King or California King) start at $1,999; standard dual-zone sizes cost $2,699 (Full), $2,899 (Queen) and $2,999 (King/Cal King). The cover tracks heart rate, breathing rate, HRV, snoring and sleep stages without a wearable, and the sensors are designed to tell sleepers apart and ignore pets or children. Existing add-ons — Blanket, Pillow Cover and Base — are compatible but sold separately. Autopilot membership is required: Standard $199/year (2-year warranty), Enhanced $299/year and Elite $399/year (5-year warranty).
How we tested: Evidence-based assessment — scored from Eight Sleep’s official specifications, September 2026 launch coverage and early independent reviews. Not hands-on tested by ONDA.
Same dual-zone cover-based cooling and heating as the Pod 4/5 core, with Eight Sleep claiming 20% faster temperature changes. Top-down cooling needs the separate Blanket add-on (the Pod 5 Ultra scored 9.7 with it bundled). Eight Sleep has not published a new temperature range for the Pod 6.
Build, install and longevity
8.5
Rebuilt hub is 50% smaller and fits under most bed frames. Warranty is tied to membership: 2 years on Standard, 5 years on Enhanced/Elite. Long-term reliability of the new hub is not yet known.
App, tracking and integration
9.2
18 biometric sensors (up from 2) for heart rate, breathing rate, HRV, snoring and sleep stages, with sleeper separation that ignores pets or children. Slightly above Pod 5 on paper; no independent validation of the Pod 6 sensors has been published yet.
Form factor flexibility
8.5
Half-size hub and new Solo sizes make it the easiest Pod to fit in a bedroom. Cover-only by default; Base, Blanket and Pillow Cover are optional add-ons rather than bundled as on the Pod 5 Ultra.
Subscription model and ownership cost
5.0
Unchanged verdict — Autopilot is mandatory: Standard $199/year, Enhanced $299/year, Elite $399/year. Warranty length now depends on the tier you pay for.
Value
6.0
From $1,999 (Solo) and $2,899 (queen dual-zone) — below the Pod 4’s $2,449–$2,649 cover pricing per sleeper and far below the $6,099+ Pod 5 Ultra. The mandatory membership still adds $600–$1,200 over three years.
Pros
+Lowest starting price in Eight Sleep history — Solo from $1,999, queen dual-zone $2,899
+18 biometric sensors (up from 2) track HR, breathing, HRV, snoring and sleep stages without a wearable
+Hub 50% smaller — fits under most bed frames
+20% faster temperature changes; independent dual-zone sides; works with existing add-ons
Cons
−Autopilot membership is mandatory ($199–$399/year)
−Warranty length depends on membership tier (2 years on Standard)
−Blanket, Base and Pillow Cover cost extra — top-down cooling is not included
−No independent validation of the new sensors yet; locked into the Eight Sleep ecosystem
Price: $1999 Solo (any size); dual-zone Full $2,699, Queen $2,899, King/Cal King $2,999; + Autopilot membership from $199/year (as of 2026-10-01)
What the Pod 6 is
The Eight Sleep Pod 6 is the sixth-generation Pod, launched on 23 September 2026 in more than 37 countries. It replaces the Pod 5, and unlike the Pod 5 Ultra it moves the line down in price rather than up: Solo sizes start at $1,999, and the dual-zone queen is $2,899.
What actually changed vs the Pod 5
Three hardware changes. The hub is 50% smaller and fits under most bed frames. The cover has 18 biometric sensors instead of 2, which Eight Sleep says lets it tell sleepers apart and ignore pets or children. And temperature changes are 20% faster than on any previous Pod, with each side of the bed controlled independently. Solo sizes are also new: a Twin, or one side of a Queen, King or California King, for people who sleep alone or whose partner does not want a Pod. The Blanket, Pillow Cover and Base from earlier generations still work but are sold separately, so the top-down cooling and adjustable base that came bundled with the Pod 5 Ultra are now optional extras.
Tracking
The Pod 6 measures heart rate, breathing rate, HRV, snoring and sleep stages from the cover, with no wearable, and Autopilot uses that data to adjust temperature through the night. Eight Sleep points to more than 50 clinical studies behind its platform, but no independent validation of the new 18-sensor Pod 6 has been published yet. Treat its HRV as a useful nightly trend rather than a clinical measurement, as with the Pod 4.
The catch
The membership. Autopilot is required: Standard $199/year with a 2-year warranty, Enhanced $299/year and Elite $399/year, both with a 5-year warranty. Over three years that adds $600 to $1,200 to the hardware price.
Who should buy Eight Sleep Pod 6?
Choose the Pod 6 if you want Eight Sleep’s climate control and wearable-free sleep tracking at the lowest price the brand has offered, and especially if you sleep alone and can use a Solo size. If you already own a Pod 4 or Pod 5, the upgrade is mostly a smaller hub and more sensors. For the wider field, see the best smart sleep-climate systems.
Common questions
How much does the Eight Sleep Pod 6 cost?
The Pod 6 Solo costs $1,999 in any size. Dual-zone Pod 6 sizes cost $2,699 (Full), $2,899 (Queen) and $2,999 (King or California King). An Autopilot membership is also required, from $199 per year.
Pod 6 vs Pod 5 — what changed?
The Pod 6 has a hub 50% smaller than the Pod 5, 18 biometric sensors instead of 2, and 20% faster temperature changes. It adds single-sleeper Solo sizes and starts at a much lower price. The Blanket, Base and Pillow Cover are compatible add-ons sold separately.
Does the Eight Sleep Pod 6 need a subscription?
Yes. Autopilot membership is mandatory: Standard $199/year ($17/month) with a 2-year warranty, Enhanced $299/year with a 5-year warranty, or Elite $399/year with a 5-year warranty and extra monitoring.
Does the Eight Sleep Pod 6 track HRV?
Yes. The Pod 6 tracks heart rate, breathing rate, HRV, snoring and sleep stages from sensors in the cover, without a wearable. No independent validation of the Pod 6 sensors has been published yet, so treat it as a trend rather than a clinical reading.
