HPA Axis

Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal axis — the body's central stress response system that releases cortisol.

The HPA axis (Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal) is the body's primary stress response system. When activated, it triggers the release of cortisol and other stress hormones, mobilizing the body for challenge.

The Pathway

  1. Hypothalamus — releases CRH (corticotropin-releasing hormone)
  2. Pituitary — releases ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone)
  3. Adrenal glands — release cortisol (and adrenaline from the medulla)

Cortisol: Poison or Fuel?

Chronically elevated cortisol is damaging. But in acute, controlled doses, cortisol and adrenaline sharpen focus and provide energy. The key is regulation — teaching the body to control release rather than being controlled by it.

In ONDA Life

Part 4 "Neuroendocrinology" directly impacts the HPA axis. We teach the body to control cortisol and adrenaline release, turning them "from poison into fuel for precision."
