Metabolism

The sum of all chemical reactions in the body that convert food into energy and building materials for cells.

What is metabolism?

Metabolism encompasses every chemical reaction occurring in your body — from cellular respiration to protein synthesis. In ONDA Life, metabolism is understood as the energetic foundation of consciousness.

Two Phases

  • •Catabolism — breaking down molecules to release energy (ATP production)
  • •Anabolism — building complex molecules from simpler ones (repair, growth)

Metabolic States and Consciousness

| State | Metabolic Mode | Consciousness Quality | |-------|---------------|---------------------| | Stress | Catabolic dominance | Reactive, narrow focus | | Recovery | Anabolic dominance | Restorative, diffuse awareness | | Flow | Dynamic balance | Optimal performance, expanded awareness |

In ONDA Life

Level 1 practices help shift the metabolic balance from chronic catabolic stress toward dynamic equilibrium. When metabolism is balanced, the nervous system has the energy resources needed for higher-order functions like emotional regulation and focused attention.
