HRV Baseline

Your own normal range for HRV and related signals, built from your recent nights — the reference a new reading is compared with.

What is HRV Baseline?

An HRV baseline is your personal normal range for heart rate variability — and, in ONDA, also for resting heart rate and breathing rate — built from your own recent nights rather than population norms. Because HRV varies so much between people, a reading compared with your own baseline usually says more than the same reading compared with an age table.

In the ONDA app the baseline is built over 14 days and needs at least 7 valid nights before any signal is read. Each night is compared with your own corridor — the average of your recent nights plus or minus one standard deviation — and flagged only when it is at least 1.5 standard deviations outside and has changed by a minimum amount. A single flagged night is a prompt to notice, not a diagnosis.
