Amygdala

The brain structure for threat detection and emotional reactivity — the source of social fear and anxiety.

The amygdala is an almond-shaped structure in the temporal lobe, part of the limbic system. It is the primary detector of threat and the driver of fear, anxiety, and defensive responses.

Key Functions

  • Threat detection — rapid, unconscious scanning for danger
  • Emotional reactivity — fear, anxiety, fight-or-flight
  • Social fear — fear of judgment, rejection, visibility
  • Memory — emotional tagging of experiences

In ONDA Life

Part 10 aims to "reduce amygdala reactivity to suppress paralyzing social fear." Cognitive Reappraisal is a prefrontal technique that physiologically dampens amygdala activity — replacing fear with excitement. The goal is to exit "social paralysis" and enter sovereign expression.
